LengPleng is cautiously back. Let’s see how it goes. Obviously it’s mostly things going on safely over the on-line interwebs.
Gareth Bawden is on this evening, Thursday 12, at Coconut Park, Koh Pich, from 5 – 7 pm – with $1 off all pizzas! And it’s not music, but Cloud is holding its poetry open mic, hosted by Kosal Khiev, at the early time of 6.30 pm tonight.
Fresh this Friday at 8 pm on RadioOun.com is the new show Professor Kinski @ The Track (Strictly Own Productions). After having spent 15 of the last 19 years producing Khmer fusion music in his home studio in Phnom Penh for bands like Dub Addiction (reggae/dub), MC Curly (hip-hop), Psychotic Reactions (psychobilly garage punk), Bob Passion & The Schkoots (French punk), Dub Addiction Collective (international reggae collaborations), remixing for local bands like The Cambodian Space Project, The Kampot Playboys and international acts like Hong Kong’s premiere ska band The Red Stripes, Berlin’s nu metal outfit Born a Rebel, Bangkok’s garage combo Pussy and the Learjets, as well as local hip-hop and Khmer psych-pop artists – the list goes on and on – The Prof has selected the best of his productions for ten one-hour mixtapes, each in a different genre. Here’s
a sample. So that’s ten weeks of Kinski goodness!
Being housebound in the evening, why not check out the rest of what’s on offer from RadioOun.com? Or delve into the On Demand menu to enjoy replays of shows at your leisure.
Also Scott Bywater will be playing at Botanico on Saturday evening from 6 pm.
There’s a special live streaming on Sunday evening, 6 – 7 pm, from the Music Arts School Facebook page: Grass Snake Trio performs a stirring session of roots music – vocal harmonies, acoustic guitars and cello weaved into a rich musical tapestry of heartwarming ballads and toe-tapping tunes. Marianna Hensley and Joe Wrigley will welcome the newest trio member Clara Shandler to the stage. Tips will be accepted via ABA.
Also coming soon to YouTube is The Balcony Show. A selection of familiar faces, featuring new music, humour and talk – an expat’s view on life in Cambodia. Premiering on August 21 – look out for the Leng Pleng feature interview next Thursday.
