Deep in the heart of low season at half past August and it’s a busy weekend in the capital.  On Friday in Phnom Penh  Slide Hustle are at Craft, Ysabel is at The Tin Hat, Ice is at Botanico and Arome Khmer at Vinoteca.  Slightly later you can enjoy Frankie Teardrop Dead at Back Street Bar and Summer Lee Carlson & Mute Speaker at Cloud, while Mary & Takeshi are at Little Susie and The Lark is at Hometown Hangout; later still Bart-Psar are at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Siem Reap, Bless joins Hera Paradise (HCMC) & Alpaca Lips at Arin’s.

Saturday night in Phnom Penh select from Bustaka Boys at Craft and Melody & Joe at Botanico, while Summer Lee Carlson & Mute Speaker are at LOLA Music Lounge and Skeptical Chemistry are at Back Street Bar.  Frankie Teardrop Dead are at Cloud, Hugo Marcellesi is at Samai Rum Distillery, Electric Muxu Orchestra are at Bassac Block on Street 308 and Naran Vatra is at Little Susie, while The Lazy Drunks return to Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Siem Reap, Electric Soup are at Arin’s and REC Trio (Rod, Euan, Chema) are at Republic Bistro.

Come Sunday in Phnom Penh find Miss Sarawan & Scoddy at Villa Grange and Brooke Palmer at The VineThe Inks at Back Street Bar, The Lost Girls are at Lost Bar & Grill and Electric Muxu Orchestra are back at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Siem Reap Rod Tolentino is at Arin’s.

Friend of Leng Pleng 60 Road Studios are offering a special deal until the end of October – $250 for a full eight hour day of recording, $130 for a half day of four hours.  Prices include all staffing, access to studio equipment and delivery of tracks.  Follow in the steps of Kampot Playboys, Japan Guitar Shop, Joe & the Jumping Jacks, Scapegoat Candy, Coz Collective and more – get international  quality recording done in sleepy Siem Reap.

Looking ahead, the first confirmed acts have been announced for the Nesat Market Music Festival to be held on New Year’s Eve – already a great line-up.
