TLDR:

  • Gig listings throughout Cambodia, every Thursday afternoon, from our page com, via email (subscribe at gigs@lengpleng.com), and our Facebook page.
  • Absolutely free: no charge to use or list
  • Performers and venues: just send us the name of the act, the time and date, and a link to the venue (Facebook or otherwise). It’s even easier than setting up a Facebook event.
  • Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kampot, Kep, Battambang, Koh Rong – we aim to cover these and any another locations
  • Bonus for providing a poster or image – that gets you in the video weekend preview
  • Even more bonus if you have a special event or visiting act that would warrant a full length interview for added promotion

First of all, yes, it’s free.  Absolutely free.  No sign up, no unrequested calls, no irritating upgrade messages.  Published every Thursay afternoon at lengpleng.com, available by email if you wish.

In essence, lengpleng.com provides listings for live music throughout the kingdom of Cambodia.  This is quite important, as the collective memory of both venues and acts is constantly being swamped by the general transience of the musical and music-following community.  Entertainment guides have come and gone; lengpleng.com remains standing more than 12 years later.

LengPleng was first set up in 2009 as a mailing list to connect musicians – from there it blossomed into a comprehensive gig guide and general cheerleader for live music in Cambodia.  Post-COVID, we continue to make efforts to bring the community together and celebrate what we have.  In recent years there has been an emphasis on full length interviews and mini-profiles – to get that kind of promotion, read on.

In Cambodia, Facebook is unusually prominent as a means of advertising gigs.  However venues show a tendency to advertise their own gigs to their own audience, which is limiting, and often to post events quite late, even as late as a few hours before the gig starts.  This makes it hard for audiences to make decisions, and hard for us to list your event.  If you are a venue, keep LengPleng.com up to date with what you have coming by sending your advance schedule to gigs@lengpleng.com at regular intervals.  With a gig sitting in the Coming Soon section your chances of getting the word out and having more punters at your gig will be greatly improved.

This particularly goes for Siem Reap or Kampot (or venues elsewhere) – you’d be surprised how many Phnom Penh residents will be interested in taking a trip if an event is advertised well in advance.

Some venues and particularly performers are very good at informing us about what gigs are going on, and as a result they get more featured promotion.  Simple as that.  They know who they are.  Be like them.

If you have something special coming, such as a visiting act or new band/project, feel free to contact us to facilitate an interview or profile.  Check out our past articles here, and stand by for our new publication, Around the Traps, containing all the interviews from 2022, the fourth in an annual series.

We aim to promote all types of live music, but important to note: we don’t cover DJ parties, due to lack of expertise – for those gigs we recommend https://phnom-penh-underground.com/.  Similarly we don’t list karaoke, “live DJs” or any event that is advertised as simply “live band”.

Please help us to spread the word and the tunes; tell your friends, especially if they’re new arrivals.  And see you around the traps.

New book, coming soon:
