The New Year’s Eve 2022 celebrations were the best ones yet. A kind soul and dear friend unexpectedly put my name forward for the Radio Oun Top 100 Songs of All Time poll for 2022. Scoddy mentioned it to me at the Sundowners open mic, and I was kind of excited from that point on. I did a bit of marketing at my school and online to garner some votes but I was up against some Phnom Penh music giants, and honestly, I was just thrilled to be included. I hoped for the top 40, but as we all waited at Tacos Kokopelli listening to the tracks go by, I realised I might actually be in with a chance. When I found out I’d actually managed to make it to first place, a crescendo of joy, and gratitude, and disbelief overwhelmed me. I was with my friends, and the people I loved, seeing the year in in the best way possible. I want to thank Radio Oun, and everyone who helped put the event together, I want to thank all of the amazing musicians who took park and support the scene like they do, and I want to sincerely thank every person who voted for my song. I’ve never been in anything like this before and I was truly, deeply touched. Here’s to a great 2023 everyone! You can expect some more music coming from me this year, after all, I want to add some more songs to next year’s ‘best song of all time’ event now.

maybe then I could allow myself to be proud of myself
but that’s so, so hard – I’m really not going there
