On Friday night in Phnom Penh, Muz Muskett is at Tacos Kokopelli, Pablo is at Botanico, Ex-Pulse are at The Tin Hat and Zakk Zoot is at The VineMiss Sarawan is at Bat Muk Yu, Noel Woodrow is at Little Susie, Rockustic is at Tropico and Temple take it late at Oscar’s on the Corner.

On Saturday in Phnom Penh, Matsumura Fishworks are at The Deck, Echoes in Two (Raph and Dr G) are at Botanico and Vince Solomons is at Stories.  Later and louder, a double bill of Checkered Past and new band Punch Drunk at Oscar’s on the Corner – complete with a pre-show punk versus ska listening party downstairs.  On the coast, Nestor is at The Wave: Kep West, and Joe & the Jumping Jacks are at Laundry in Siem Reap.

Department of New Releases

Now in store at SPACE FOUR ZERO is the latest release from Pearl of Asia Records, Groove Club Number 5: Sinn Sisamouth.  The new 180 gram blue vinyl version – numbered copies in a limited edition of 500 – is exclusive to Cambodia, and comes with a 16 page booklet, featuring interviews with Sisamouth’s widow and granddaughter.  The tracks include Cheang Kat Sak Day Ek (Haircut Talent), Nov Teh Sralanh (Still Loving You) and Phally, Phally, mixing up solo releases with duets with Ros Sereysothea.  A real treat for lovers of the Cambodian Golden Era.  Tony says:  “We’re super excited and proud of this release. I hope everyone enjoys it and hopefully more people get turned on to Cambodian music and the great Sinn Sisamouth.”

As you may be aware, Little Susie now has a sister venue, Stories, upstairs on St 174 near St 51.  After some experimentation with days and hours they now have a new working schedule for live music and food.
