On Saturday in Phnom Penh Takeshi Band are at Craft, Esther Moa & Phil Javelle continue their May residency at Lantern and The Broken Cymbal duo are out at Seekers SpiritsSon Sabor duo are at Central Café, long-running Kheltica make a rare appearance at  The Welsh Consulate TTP, Woody Dares is at The Glasshouse and Funky Chicken  are at Back Street Bar.  Later Geography of the Moon bring the full band to Oscar’s on the Corner, followed by K’n’E.  In Kep, find Arome Khmer at Kepina By The Sea, while in Siem Reap  Mirblade are at The Harbour.  On Monday Arome Khmer will be at Tiki Garden in Kampot.

**For the rest of the gigs check out the listings at the bottom of the page** As Wednesday is starting to grow as a live music night, remember to check the guide early next week, as many shows are not advertised early and so won’t be included until the last minute **

The mainstream media takes notice again – the Phnom Penh Post has this week published an interview with Joshua Chiang about his new album Everything Under The Sun.

Fancy hosting a radio show?  RadioOun.com is interested in expressions of interest for new shows – if not based in Kampot you would need to be able to prerecord in a suitable sound environment.  Contact the station for more information.

Reaching For The Stars: Ariane Parkes and Talk To The Girl, Speak To The Ghost

Dropping Friday morning on Bandcamp, with a special listening party in the evening at Tacos Kokopelli, is the eight track debut album for Ariane Parkes, Talk To The Girl, Speak To The Ghost.  Ariane, known for her performances with Checkered Past, The Sock Essentials and the Rocket Science project, spoke to LengPleng about how it all came to be, and the delights and challenges of the recording studio.

So where does the story of this album start?  “It starts here in Cambodia.  When I had to write an artist description for Bandcamp last week I said: “It took me many years to discover that songwriting is something that I can actually do.”  I picked up the ukulele and discovered that I could write songs: create the structure of a song with different chords and build a melody around it.”
