And a happy new year to all readers and punters.

The big show in the kingdom this weekend is the Nestacy Festival at Nest Beach Club on Koh Rong, starting today and stretching through to Sunday, featuring Joe Wrigley, Gareth Bawden, Woody Dares, The Incredibillies, Geography of the Moon, The Broken Cymbal and a barrelful of DJs.

Out of the capital today, Thursday, you can find Chiet, Mark & Mad Max at Doung Te in Kampot, Mustache Band at Queenco Hotel & Casino, Sihanoukville, and Giuliano, Simon & Andrey at Pasta La Vista in Siem Reap.  If you’re in Phnom Penh there’s a new open mic at Voodoo Saloon, and Platitudes are opening up for The Extraordinary Chambers at Oscar’s on the Corner.

On Friday, Ponytails is putting on a Peter Doyle one year memorial night, and inviting musicians along to play.  Later in the evening catch The Blue Souls with special guest Phil Javelle at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Kampot Chiet, Mark & Mad Max are back at Doung Te while the Low Season Riders play 1960.

In Seam Reap on Friday there is plenty to choose from.  Phnom Penh visitors include The Visa Runners Arin’s and Blue Wave at Fellini, while local faces include Giuliano Turello Trio at Star Bar Jam-Cha at  Laundry Bar, and Andy Luna at AMBAR.

On Saturday, Meraki’s garden party in Kampot hosts Trio Tropical and others, Maki Orkestr are at Queenco Hotel & Casino in Sihanoukville, Gone Marshall is at Sticky Fingers in Phnom Penh, and  The Extraordinary Chambers are at Oscar’s on the Corner, while in Siem Reap Jam-Cha are at The Harbour, Giuliano Turello Trio are at Laundry Bar and Sopharat Band are at AMBAR.

 Into next week check out The Broken Cymbal at Oscar’s on the Corner on Monday and Funky Chicken at Bouchon Wine Bar on Wednesday.
