Greetings:

Notable this week is a shift in booking/promotions at Craft – shows will now commence at 7 pm, and be divided into two streams – International Scene Fridays and Best of the Local Scene Saturdays.  This week, for example, Nestor & Anthony get all Latin on Friday, while Cambodian jazz singer Chor Yee & Limkiang lead off the local schedule on Saturday.

Tonight, Thursday, there’s the folky Phil O’Flaherty at Botanico and the bluesy Big D, Jeffro & Phil at Bouchon Wine Bar, and rocking on late The Extraordinary Chambers at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Siem Reap, there is the choice of Andy Luna at Fellini, Adam Marsland at Pasta La Vista and/or The Lounge Trio at Villa D.

On Friday, find Intan Andriana & Metta Legita at Le Vin and Kiss Bang Bong at Duplex, while Scott Bywater provides an early acoustic warm up for K’n’E at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Siem Reap, Laundry Bar hosts a Latin night with Pablo Enrique Trio, while Andy Luna is at Arin’s.  In Kampot the unspeakable Kampot Playboys play Monkey Republic, while at Karma Traders Andre Aguiar hosts an open mic.

Saturday night in Phnom Penh, Woody Dares is at Lantern, Kiss Bang Bong are at Central Café and Gone Marshall is at Malibu NightsNestor & La Union make it a Fiesta Latina at Bouchon Wine Bar, while new outfit Sound Borders are at Duplex. K’n’E takes is late at Oscar’s on the Corner.   In Siem Reap, Andy Luna is at Pasta La Vista and Andre Aguiar is at Kep Natural, in – you guessed it – Kep.

Harmonica-player-around-town Colin Grafton has just released a book, Dancers, featuring many extraordinary photographs and a narrative “about a few people whose resilience and dedication helped to revive the classical dance after the collapse of the Khmer Rouge and Democratic Kampuchea.”  Find it at Silapak Trotchaek Pneik gallery at YK Art House, Au Cabaret Vert in Battambang, and at the bookshop at the National Museum.  Or Colin may well be carrying one or two.

Ariane Parkes, just ending her summering in Germany, last week released the first video, the woman is out, from her album talk to the girl, speak to the ghost.

Department of Looking Forward To Getting Loud: the upcoming tour by Vietnamese metal band CÚT LỘN with Cambodia’s own Nightmare AD has made the pages of Unite Asia.  After a show in Ho Chi Minh City, they will play Oscar’s on the Corner in Phnom Penh (adding Doch Chkae) and Atlantis Metal Bar in Siem Reap.  More information about the bands will be presented in LengPleng next week.

Occasional visitors to Cambodia, Australian act PlanB are starting to plan their next tour through the region for early next year.  They just released a new video for their song The Bridge.
