Greetings:

Things appear to be slowing down for the summer with lots of acts taking a break, but there’s still action around, particularly in Phnom Penh, and LengPleng, keeping its ear to the ground, predicts a significant surge of activity – there’s already a lot of recording going on, and many new bands on the horizon – as we run downhill towards Christmas.  In the meantime there’s a bit of touring going on, with Chema & Rod travelling to Kampot and Phnom Penh, and next weekend Stu Cottom heading for Siem Reap.

Get an early weekend start in Phnom Penh with Stu Cottom at Villa Grange, then later find Kevin Sysyn at Excelsior and The Extraordinary Chambers with special guest Gaby Courroux at Oscar’s on the Corner. In Siem Reap Chema & Rod are at AMBAR.

In Phnom Penh on Friday, Antonio & the Playful Minds are at Craft, Ramy Falcon & Phil Javelle are at Hemisphere and Sister Srey are at Rosewood.  Further afield, Green Leaf Motif are at Cloud and Efren & Eli are at Beer O’Clock, then 100% Cottom Crew make their debut at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Siem Reap Salazar Quartet are at Villa D.

On Saturday in Phnom Penh the Night Market at Coconut Park features Pinoy Harmony and The Broken Cymbal, while Ice & Anne are at Botanico and Antonio & the Playful Minds are at Sundance, while Nestor & Lily celebrate the first anniversary of MayazonCloud present a second All Acoustic Night featuring John Coughlan, Camilo Vargas Salazarm, Jezze Zenchuk, Vartey Garniva, Challi Mora and Norea, while a full strength (with flute, troh and hand drum) Khmer Blind Band play Oscar’s on the Corner.   In Kampot, Roberto Salgado hosts an open mic at The Bay, and in Siem Reap are at Giuliano & Rain at Harry’s & The Welsh Consulate , The Exile featuring Mikayla are at Harry’s (7 Makara) and The Wildmen break out of their cage at  Laundry.

On Sunday the regular Phnom Penh gigs continue with Jive Buddies at Villa Grange, Lewis McTighe and Gareth Bawden, 5 pm, The Vine, Stu Cottom at Bar Oz and Sunday Sundowners open mic hosted by Scott Bywater at Tacos Kokopelli.  Late into the evening Sunday Lark are at Oscar’s on the Corner.
