Department of Something New

New to YouTube is Frisco Tony performing his song Down and Out In Chicago with his Gangstas of Love Marc Biefnot and Ernie Buck – at Meta House back in June.

Fans of K’n’E, the house band at Oscar’s on the Corner, may be interested in this recording of a Khmer song performed by lead singer Tep Modyka that shows off her vocal abilities nicely.  And if you can handle the cognitive dissonance, here’s Robin from the Oscar Tuesday night band Temple singing a country song, complete with cowboy hat.

In case you missed it, the Khmer Times reports that Cambodian hip-hoppers Vuthea and RuthKo, along with KlapYaHandz founder Sok Visal will be performing next month in Paris as part of an event to promote links between French and Asian music communities.

This week we farewelled singer-songwriter Ernie Buck (Monkish, Uncomfortably White Brothers, Cham Ticks, Gangstas of Love), who is off for more UK adventures, but he left us with his latest six-track Bandcamp release, There’s Enough Of You To Reach Past Pluto which dropped a couple of weeks agoCheck it out at his Bandcamp page.  Or wait until next Friday when it will be Bandcamp Friday, when a greater percentage of the purchase price goes to the artist.
