 For your New Year’s Eve live music in Phnom Penh find Stu Cottom at Do Forni at Sofitel, The Blue Souls at Palace Gate Hotel, and The Broken Cymbal at Khmer Funk Sky Bar.  Cassette are at Stories, John Peter is at Rust and Kevin Sysyn is at The Silk Route.  For the eighth year in a row the No-countdown NYE with The Extraordinary Chambers is at Oscar’s on the Corner.  Angkor Youth Orchestra and others are at Farmhouse Resort in Kampong Chnang.  In Kampot the Kampot Playboys are at Ha Tien Vegas, Frankie Teardrop Dead are at Madi Bar and Bamboo Train are at The Bay.  In Siem Reap, Rain, Kyle and Anita are at The Pizza Garden.

 For a relaxing evening on New Year’s Day there’s a special Sundowners open mic hosted by Scott Bywater at Tacos Kokopelli, while Stu Cottom and Kevin Sysyn are at Excelsior, and Shaken Spirit are at Oscar’s on the Corner.

Friday night in Phnom Penh sees Zakk Zoot at The Vine, Antonio Elchico & the Playful Minds at Botanico, Ex-Pulse at The Tin Hat and Stu Cottom at The Silk Route.  Going late is Montra at Oscar’s on the Corner

 A quiet Saturday in Phnom Penh sees The Vibe Duo at Botanico, Jazz Sauce at The Deck, and Brett Perkins opening for The Extraordinary Chambers at Oscar’s on the Corner.

On Sunday Cardboard Lo-Fi are at The Vine, the Sunday Sundowners open mic is at Tacos Kokopelli, Joe Wrigley is at Bar Oz and Shaken Spirit are at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Siem Reap Kodi Hudson is at Embargo.

Coming to Chew and Bash on January 10 is French electrobrass band Fulu – read about them here in Cambodgemag (FR).

The following weekend January 17 in Siem Reap, the 2026 60 Road Fest features Johatsu, Checkered Past, Scapegoat Candy, Seng Heang and Kampot Playboys.  Early tickets $5, $7.50 on the door.  Should be a great day of music.

Coming soon – the seventh annual volume collecting the interviews and articles from LengPleng during the year.  This year’s edition includes interviews with Dengue Fever, Faith Quinoes, Rags to Rainbows, Clay George, Angkor Classique, Brooke Palmer and more – plus Passing Chords mini-profiles of many touring artists such as members of My Druthers, Chakra Shakers and Bullshit Boy, alongside newcomers like Ann-Shophie Douet, John Ryan, Brett Perkins, Ben Etc. and Sara Garcia, and old timers like Aymen Ghali, Paul Mackie and Katy Lo Wing.
