Friday night in Phnom Penh find Jazz Sauce at Khmer Funk Sky Bar, John Peter & Matau at Botanico, John Ryan at The Tin Hat and Antonio & the Playful Minds at Big Wig.  Doch Chkae are at new Tuol Tom Pong venue Distortion Dive Bar, Adam Marsland is at Little Susie and Montra are at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Kampot Frankie Teardrop Dead are at 1960 and in Siem Reap Rainy Season are at The Craft by ColYve.

Saturday night in Phnom Penh, Fulu Electrobrass (FR) follow Brass on the Block at Chew & Bash, The Originals at The Deck features Lewis McTighe & Gary Custance, Vince Solomons & Genesis, and David Zdriluk  and Jazz Sauce are at Aquarius.  Cambodia Soundbase are at Botanico, Muz Muskett is at House of Jazz and More, while Stellar Starlights are at Au Marche, Kimberly Bugo is at Samai Rum Distillery and Two Country Drunks are at Tropico.  Alli G opens up early at Oscar’s on the Corner for The Blues Busters.  La Union are at The Wave: Kep West and Johatsu are at Soundgarden on Koh Rong, while in Siem Reap The Dogs Are Barking (Garry, Andrey, Chema, Rod) are at Laundry.

On Sunday Vincent Solomons is at The Vine, the Sunday Sundowners open mic is on at Tacos Kokopelli and Poca is at Botanico.  Cloud hosts the intruiging-sounding Beam Splitter (“a duo for amplified voice, trombone and analogue electronics based in Berlin, Germany) and Shaken Spirit go late at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In the north, there’s the Siem Reap Songwriters Listening Room Concert at Level Up.

Department of Tours and Events

Coming next weekend to Siem Reap, on January 17, is the 2026 60 Road Fest features Johatsu, Checkered Past, Scapegoat Candy, Seng Heang and Kampot Playboys.  Early tickets $5, $7.50 on the door.  Should be a great day of music.

Coming to Phnom Penh next week are Geography of the Moon who have a string of dates beginning on Friday 16 with the Meta House 19th birthday party, continuing on Saturday 17 at Au Marche (dining show) followed by a late show at Oscar’s on the Corner augmented by bass and drums, and more dates through to the following weekend – see the Coming Soon section below.

Coming soon – the seventh annual volume collecting the interviews and articles from LengPleng during the year.  This year’s edition includes interviews with Dengue Fever, Faith Quinoes, Rags to Rainbows, Clay George, Angkor Classique, Brooke Palmer and more – plus Passing Chords mini-profiles of many touring artists such as members of My Druthers, Chakra Shakers and Bullshit Boy, alongside newcomers like Ann-Shophie Douet, John Ryan, Brett Perkins, Ben Etc. and Sara Garcia, and old timers like Aymen Ghali, Paul Mackie and Katy Lo Wing.

The price is still $7.50 after all these years, and still $5 if you’re in the book (or on the cover).
