Greetings:

There are rumbles around about – vacation time is slowing coming to an end, schools are back in session, new arrivals are being seen around the traps.  New venues are opening, and others are throwing their hats into the live music ring.  With luck this will shortly be translated into the return and revamping of familiar acts, the appearance of new ones, and even resumed touring.  LengPleng will do its best to keep up with the coming deluge – if we’re missing things do let us know.

Tonight find Thursday Club with Geography of the Moon and guest artist Kwan at Sra’Art Studio (last week’s scheduled event was postponed until today), while Gaby Sometime & Hugo Marcellesi play Mediterranean pop at Botanico, The Ghost Boosters boogie on at Bouchon Wine Bar and special guest Gaby Courroux sits in with The Extraordinary Chambers Oscar’s on the Corner.

On Friday, Joshua Chiang is at Botanico@Odom Garden (weather permitting), Kiss Bang Bong are at Craft and Chor Yee & Gaby Courroux are at Le Vin.  In Tuol Tom Pong, The Broken Cymbal at The Welsh Consulate and Antonio Elchico is at Beer O’Clock, while Geography of the Moon are at The Hideout and Impulse Audio play Back Street Bar.  Going late, K’n’E are at Oscar’s on the Corner.

Further afield, in Kampot Three Country Drunks play Monkey Republic while Andre Aguiar hosts the Jampot open mic at Karma Traders.  In Siem Reap, Rod Tolentino is acoustic at AMBAR.

Saturday night finds Phil O’Flaherty at Botanico, Miss Sarawan at Craft and Na Bee & Vorn Memo at Cloud.  An unknown quantity (to LengPleng at least) The Hooks are at Duplex, while The Extraordinary Chambers are at Oscar’s on the Corner.   In Siem Reap, Jam Cha are at The Harbour.

Department of New Releases, etc.

Ariane Parkes has released a second video, heal, from her album talk to the girl, speak to the ghost – available to purchase on Bandcamp.

As mentioned last week, a couple of months ago Jet Odrerir – Phnom Penh scene veteran and current resident of Austin, Texas – came to town to do some recording with Euan Gray at The Sound Initiative, roping in Joe & the Jumping Jacks, Marianna Hensley, Mol Vibol and James Speck to fill out the sound.  The results have now been released and the mini-album is now available at BandcampI shouldn’t have said nothing is a rambunctious, lighthearted and sometimes sardonic collection of world-weary songs that fall approximately in the country zone – highly recommended.

In case you missed it, this Vietnam underground scene report was posted on YouTube, featuring our own Nightmare A.D. on their recent one-nighter with Cut Lon and other bands in Ho Chi Minh City.
