The LengPleng Interview
Speeding up and slowing down – Geography of the Moon’s 2024
Geography of the Moon were first interviewed in LengPleng in 2019, on their second visit to Phnom Penh. Post-COVID they returned to Cambodia and were interviewed in 2022 and 2023 – in the spirit of an annual GOTM article we present Virginia and Andrea’s look back at 2024.
LP: Welcome back to Phnom Penh.
VI: We got back a week ago today.
AN: Feels like a year.
VI: It doesn’t feel like it’s changed very much.
2024 – an incomplete and selective review of the year
As usual LengPleng asked performers, audience and venues to reflect on their highlights of the year. If you didn’t get to contribute, this will remain as a live article open to new contributions through until early next week.
Department of Mutual Support: Friends of LengPleng
Being a Friend of LengPleng is open to venues, acts, and even private individuals; if you value the service we provide please consider assisting us financially. For a modest contribution ($25 for three months, $40 for six months, $75 for 12 months), you get the logo of your choice into the weekly email and onto the weekly wrap page, and an automatically click through to a page on our website for further information, photos, videos and so on – we like to think of it as an alternative to Facebook.
We also pay special attention when you have a good story for us – an upcoming event or an artist you wish to highlight. Email gigs@lengpleng.com for further details or bail up Scoddy wherever you see him.
Steve Porte Photo(s) of the Week
Steve’s photos as usual making up the cover for the annual Around the Traps book, a volume collecting the interviews and articles from LengPleng during 2024 – available very soon.
If you wish to receive LengPleng in your inbox every Thursday please send a subscribe email to gigs@lengpleng.com.
Musicians, venues, punters: if there are things you know that LengPleng should know, please tell us and we’ll do our best to tell the world.
See you around the traps.
your correspondent,
Guillermo Wheremount
