Speaking of Siem Reap, punky quartet The Wildmen (pretty much as it sounds) have released a five track EP, recorded at 60 Road Studios, on Soundcloud – free for all to enjoy.  Leng Pleng stand-outs: Walk the Talk and It Is What It Is.

Just in case you missed it, the mainstream (!) media has deigned to take some notice of our underground cultural scene with this celebration of bar/venue/gallery/etc Cloud.  Congratulations to Pierre-Yves and the team.

In other news Will Canuck of blender has retired his Andrew Holm pen name on Khmer Nights and is now penning his own Phnom Pemh expat lifestyle blog at www.herenowkh.com. It can also be found on Facebook at @hereknowkh. All of the same music, arts and expat musings and listings as before but straight from the source.

The Leng Pleng Feature

No apologies for Everything: Joshua Chiang’s debut solo album

Joshua Chiang, Singaporean expatriate and Phnom Penh resident today releases his long-awaited solo album, Everything Under The Sun on Bandcamp.  You can listen (and purchase) here, at the listening party tonight at Cloud, and at the official launch with The Boxchords (and Gareth Bawden) at the same venue on Friday.  The first single/lyric video, also released today is I Wanna (Spend All My Time in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame).  He sat down with Leng Pleng earlier this week to talk about songwriting, influences, mashing styles and (briefly) COVID.

“There is a certain overarching structure to the album,” says Josh.  “Even though there is not a single mention of the city within the lyrics (because I don’t seem to be capable of writing songs about places) in my mind this album will always be tied to Phnom Penh.  On some level it tells of a spiritual journey.”
