On Friday night in Phnom Penh, the lounge rock of Silver & Taylor is at Craft, Smack the Unicorn are joined by Johnny & the Scallywags at The Tin Hat, while Phil O’Flaherty is at Botanico and Brooke Palmer is at The Box Office.  Son Sabor is at Back Street Bar, AlliG Rockustic is at MY WAY and Serdar & Aisha are at Little Susie.  You can also find Mr Zee at Voodoo Boulevard and The Blue Souls at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Kampot, Ant Colloff is at The Pig Pen, and in Siem Reap, Cesar & Ray are at Ubuntu and there’s an open mic at Mex’d Up.

In Phnom Penh on Saturday night, The Roadshow are at Craft, Alli G is at Lantern and Mr Zee is at The DeckMeDha drum troupe and electronic artist Smomid improvise at Friends Futures Factory, Guitar Too is at Botanico, Jam-Cha are at Back Street Bar and Geography of the Moon are at Little SusieOscar’s on the Corner hosts a tribute to the year 1973 with The Leng Pleng Allstars at featuring Greg Beshers, Gaby Courroux, Sal DiGaetano, Felix McFadden, Marianna Hensley and Scott Bywater, with guest vocalists including Cove Aaronoff, Mirasol Aguila, Mikayla Gonzales and Will Canuck.  On the coast, Kora Sunya Trio, Playing Mantis and Svetnek play a triple bill at Kep Natural.

On busy Sunday afternoon and evening in Phnom Penh, Phillip Javelle is at Villa Grange, Son Sabor Duo are at The Vine, the Sunday Sundowners open mic at Tacos Kokopelli is hosted by Gareth Bawden, while Cardboard Li-Fi are at Noisy Chili, Brooke Palmer is followed by Hugo St Leger at The Deck and Stu Cottom is at Bar Oz.  Later, Andy Luna & Rod Tolentino are at Back Street Bar and Electric Muxu Orchestra are at Oscar’s on the Corner.  In Siem Reap, there are open mics at Pomme and The Mended Drum, a jam with Giuliano Turello at Duckmart, and Sunday piano sessions with Jim Latt at Miss Wong.



The LengPleng Interview

On the blooming road: Wild Flowers

The latest band touring through Cambodia is Wild Flowers, an indie guitar-bass-drums trio from Portugal.  They’re currently playing shows in Thailand, and will descend on Siem Reap next Wednesday, thence to Phnom Penh for Thursday and Friday before heading to Ho Chi Minh City for one last show.  LengPleng tracked down Jessica (guitar/vocals), Natasha (bass/vocals) and Joe (drums) in Bangkok this week to conduct a video interview.

Natasha began by explaining: “This is where we’re staying.  It looks like a boarding school dormitory.  There’s no chairs, that’s why we’re all sitting on the bed, it’s not some weird band thing.
